Robin Boundary Value Problems on Arbitrary Domains
We develop a theory of generalised solutions for elliptic boundary value problems subject to Robin boundary conditions on arbitrary domains, which resembles in many ways that of the Dirichlet problem. In particular, we establish Lp-Lq-estimates which turn out to be the best possible in that framework. We also discuss consequences to the spectrum of Robin boundary value problems. Finally, we app...
متن کاملOn the Robin Problem in Fractal Domains
We study the solution to the Robin boundary problem for the Laplacian in a Euclidean domain. We present some families of fractal domains where the infimum is greater than 0, and some other families of domains were it is equal to 0. We also give a new result on “trap domains” defined in [BCM], i.e., domains where reflecting Brownian motion takes a long time to reach the center of the domain.
متن کاملPrincipal eigenvalues for generalised indefinite Robin problems
We consider the principal eigenvalue of generalised Robin boundary value problems on non-smooth domains, where the zero order coefficient of the boundary operator is negative or changes sign. We provide conditions so that the related eigenvalue problem has a principal eigenvalue. We work with the framework involving measure data on the boundary due to [Arendt & Warma, Potential Anal. 19, 2003, ...
متن کاملEigenvalues of the Laplacian on domains with fractal boundary
Consider the Laplacian operator on a bounded open domain in Euclidean space with Dirichlet boundary conditions. We show that for each number D with 1 < D < 2, there are two bounded open domains in R2 of the same area, with their boundaries having Minkowski dimension D, and having the same content, yet the secondary terms for the eigenvalue counts are not the same. This was shown earlier by Lapi...
متن کاملOn Principal Eigenvalues for Boundary Value Problems with Inde nite Weight and Robin Boundary Conditions
We investigate the existence of principal eigenvalues (i.e., eigenval-ues corresponding to positive eigenfunctions) for the boundary value problem ?u(x) = g(x)u(x) on D; @u @n (x)+u(x) = 0 on @D where D is a bounded region in R N , g is an indeenite weight function and 2 R may be positive, negative or zero.
